Acer have always offered higher specification machines for the price when compared to other brands and this is no exception.

The Core I3 processor is at the lower end of the new Core series by Intel, but compared to old pentium and core 2 duos there's no comparison. so this will be more than enough for any average user. I upgraded from a much older machine and the difference is ridiculous, with 6gb of ram as well compared to my old 1gb, you might as well be flying.............

This is a seriously nice little machine for light use. It is perfect for surfing the web and writing documents with something like OpenOffice. Installing Chrome will also improve the experience over Internet Explorer. The modern processor and 2GB of RAM really make a difference over lower specced netbooks, though of course a fully fledged notebook or laptop would have much more power. Instead of power, what you get is a light and slim machine that is easy to take around with you. The build quality is fine - but not ulta-solid - I wouldn't like to drop it or give it a knock - this isn't a brick. The keys are a little thin feeling, but they are light to touch, and I find them easy to use. The touchpad has mac-like gestures, which are nice..................

I bought the Aspire 5750 model with a i5-2430M processsor, 4GB of ram and a 500gb HD for £400 in late April - far cheaper than anything else I saw available with this spec.

Delivery:
Delivery from Amazon was apparently quite speedy but quite amazingly the delivery company left the package with the laptop in a "secure location" at the delivery address, which appears to be mean the common entrance in the block of flats where I live. There's 50 flats in my block and it's in a pretty dodgy area of bristol - pretty unsurprisingly the laptop was nowhere to be seen when I got home from the office.

I think it is ridiculous that the delivery company will leave a laptop in a common entrance without any confirmation of receipt- they need to review their delivery policy.,.................

This computer is really quite exceptional, in its price range you will not find a laptop of these specifications. The 6GB of RAM and the dedicated graphics card really push it ahead of all the others.

This computer is not a hardcore gaming laptop, however it is excellent for everything you could do besides gaming. Everything runs quickly and smoothly, I can watch a 1080p video on my external monitor while browsing the web and running some other applications on the primary screen without any interruption.

I was most pleasantly surprised at how small the computer is considering it has a 15.6" screen. The computer is very thin, and quite lightweight. This was a really pleasant surprise for me, as my previous laptop was fat, heavy and loud.

Some other reviews have commented on how the screen isn't amazing, it's just fine, it isn't a full HD LED IPS screen, but it works just fine and I have no complaints about it..................

This is a review for the 6GB RAM, 750GB HDD version of the Acer 5750G with the Intel i5 2430M processor. Amazon don't list this computer as the 5750G (they have it just as the 5750), but that is what it says on the box.
First of all I was surprised by the sturdiness of the laptop, having read several times that Acer can be a bit plasticky. This machine is solid and is also very elegent looking in a mesh black cover. The mesh is to prevent fingerprint marks.
The touchpad pad is very sensitive, almost too sensitive. I prefer to use a mouse. Start up is quick and so is shut down. Getting started for the first time takes about 10 minutes. Acer recommend that the owner create recovery disks in case of future problems. There is a total of about 18GB of information to record. This requires 5 DVD recordable disks. 4 for the factory settings and 1 for the applications and drivers. This all takes about 1 hour.
If you want to install further programs like MS Office or Outlook then the set up time will be longer. This computer does not have Outlook. Outlook is now sold seperately by Microsoft for about £90 for a disk. A lot of MS office programs no longer have Outlook on them.
McAfee Antivirus protection is given free for 2 months.....................

My friend bought one of these laptops. The laptop is excellent in every regard. But 6 days after buying it, she started getting phone calls from someone claiming to be 'The Windows Department'. Apparently her computer was causing a problem on the servers and she needed to purchase some software to fix it. They called 3 times using high pressure sales tactics. I'm pleased to say she had the common sense to consult me before parting with her credit card number...................
